About the Stone

Vesuvianite — idocrase — was first described in 1795 in blocks thrown out by Mount Vesuvius, which is a fitting name for a stone of transformation. It forms where limestone meets hot igneous rock, most often in green, and comes from Italy, Canada, Russia and Pakistan.

Care

Reasonably durable but somewhat brittle: avoid drops, prolonged soaking and acids, and keep green material out of strong sun. Warm soapy water and a soft cloth. Cleanse it with moonlight.
