About the Stone

The moving band of light in Tiger Eye — chatoyancy, from the French for cat's eye — comes from parallel fibers replaced by silica while keeping their structure. Its golden brown is oxidized iron; unoxidized it stays blue-grey, and that is Hawk's Eye.

Wearing & Care

Rings take more knocks than any other piece of jewelry: put it on last, after lotion and perfume, and take it off for hand-washing, housework, gardening, the gym, swimming and sleep. Sterling silver tarnishes slowly in air; a silver polishing cloth keeps it bright. Long hours in strong sun can dull the golden band over time; keep it out of the window when it is not with you.
