Rainbow Moonstone — Rainbow Moonstone is the Stone of the Sacred Feminine. It connects us to lunar energy and the natural rhythm of cycles, and it provides protection and increases intuition. Chakras: Crown and Third Eye.

Labradorite — Labradorite is known as a stone of magic and protection, as it has many uses in both. The Inuit people saw Labradorite as descending from the heavens — a stone of the Aurora Borealis — bringing the magical fire from the sky to the Earth. This frozen fire was thought to have mystical powers that aided in opening psychic abilities, a quality that Labradorite is still called upon for. Its color play ranges from blue to gold to purple to green, and it can be an amazing partner for meditation: you can stare at it and see new things all the time. When you ask it a question, turn it, and find answers woven into the fabric of its beautiful being. Chakras: All, with Third Eye and Root named specifically.

About the Stones

Rainbow Moonstone. Most Rainbow Moonstone is white labradorite — a plagioclase feldspar — rather than moonstone in the strict sense, which is why it flashes blue instead of glowing white. Moonstone, Peach Moonstone and Labradorite are separate stones with their own teachings.

Labradorite. Though the Inuit thought it rained down as frozen fire, Labradorite comes from deep in the earth — a feldspar formed by pressure, named for Labrador in Canada but found in Finland, Madagascar and the Appalachians too. Its inner flash is labradorescence, the Schiller effect: color play that seems to come from within and disappears as you move the stone.

Wearing & Care

Rings take more knocks than any other piece of jewelry: put it on last, after lotion and perfume, and take it off for hand-washing, housework, gardening, the gym, swimming and sleep. Sterling silver tarnishes slowly in air; a silver polishing cloth keeps it bright. Rainbow Moonstone: Water-safe for brief contact; rinse and dry rather than soaking. Feldspar chips if dropped. Labradorite: Labradorite has two directions of cleavage, so it chips if dropped on a hard surface. Do not soak it. US sizes. Not sure of yours? Measure a ring that already fits across the inside — 16.5 mm is a 6, 17.3 a 7, 18.1 an 8, 18.9 a 9.
