About the Stone

A tektite is Earth rock that was melted and flung skyward by a meteorite impact and cooled to glass as it fell back — Earth material thrown into the sky by something from space, and returned changed. Pitted, black to olive, and found in a handful of strewn fields, the largest across Australasia. Moldavite and Libyan Desert Glass are its named cousins, each its own stone.

Care

It is glass and breaks like glass: check edges, store it apart from harder stones, and avoid hot water on a cold stone. Warm soapy water and a soft cloth. Cleanse it with moonlight.
