About the Stone

Larimar is the blue variety of pectolite, coloured by copper, and gem-quality material comes from a single mountainside in Barahona Province in the Dominican Republic — nowhere else on Earth. It was formally identified only in 1974.

Wearing & Care

Put earrings on last, after perfume, lotion and hairspray, and take them off for showers, swimming and sleep. Keep the pair together in a pouch so the stones don't rub against other jewelry. Sterling silver tarnishes slowly in air; a silver polishing cloth keeps it bright. Soft, and bought for its colour: keep it out of prolonged sun and heat, which fade the blue for good. Cool water briefly, no ultrasonic or steam, no salt; store it apart from harder stones. Cleanse it with moonlight.
