Garnet — There are three basic varieties of Garnet; this variety is Almandine, which is also the variety known worldwide as simply "Garnet". Garnet is a stone of earthy passion. It is the number one stone I recommend for the Root chakra. It is a grounding stone that drips with the Sacred Masculine and can be an aid to those wanting to stand in that energy. Garnet is strength — a strength that reduces fear and worry to nothing, or inconsequential. It also increases awareness, like a scout on lookout for the greatest good of its sacred partner. Chakras: Root and Heart.

Sapphire — A symbol of clarity, devotion and divine insight, Blue Sapphire releases mental tension and spiritual confusion, restoring serenity and balance. It enhances focus, communication and spiritual understanding — opening the mind to higher truth — and promotes serenity, concentration and joy, quieting a keyed-up feeling and guiding calm awareness. About the Stones

Garnet. Garnet is a family of minerals rather than one; Almandine, the deep red iron-aluminum garnet, is the one the world simply calls Garnet. Hard, tough and water-safe — its toughness is why it is also used as an abrasive.

Sapphire. Sapphire is gem corundum — crystalline aluminium oxide, with iron and titanium giving the classic blue. Red corundum is Ruby; corundum of any other colour is Sapphire, so the two are the same mineral with entirely separate teachings. Opaque material is genuine sapphire below gem clarity. September's birthstone.

Wearing & Care

Rings take more knocks than any other piece of jewelry: put it on last, after lotion and perfume, and take it off for hand-washing, housework, gardening, the gym, swimming and sleep. Sterling silver tarnishes slowly in air; a silver polishing cloth keeps it bright. Sapphire: One of the most durable stones in the shop: warm soapy water and a soft brush, safe for water, salt and sun, excellent for everyday wear. It will scratch almost everything else, so store it separately. Cleanse it however you like. US sizes. Not sure of yours?
