About the Stones

Black Onyx. Onyx is a banded chalcedony, the same mineral family as Agate; the solid black material is the classic form, and much commercial black onyx is colour-enhanced — a standard, stable practice. Chiefly from Brazil, India and Uruguay.

Amethyst. Amethyst is quartz with iron inclusions that give it its color; the most coveted deep purple comes from Uruguay, though some Brazilian amethyst rivals it. Madagascar amethyst is the same stone with a different look.

Wearing & Care

Rings take more knocks than any other piece of jewelry: put it on last, after lotion and perfume, and take it off for hand-washing, housework, gardening, the gym, swimming and sleep.
