About the Stone

Libyan Desert Glass is a natural silica glass — about 98% silica, which is why it is so pale and clear — scattered across the Great Sand Sea on the Egypt–Libya border by an impact event roughly 28 million years ago. A carved scarab of it sits at the centre of a pectoral found in Tutankhamun's tomb, so "prized by the Pharaohs" is fact, not folklore.

Wearing & Care

Rings take more knocks than any other piece of jewelry: put it on last, after lotion and perfume, and take it off for hand-washing, housework, gardening, the gym, swimming and sleep. Sterling silver tarnishes slowly in air; a silver polishing cloth keeps it bright. It is glass, and it chips and fractures like glass; edges can be sharp. Handle it over a soft surface and store it padded. Cool water only — no sudden heat or cold, no ultrasonic. Cleanse it with moonlight. US sizes. Not sure of yours?
