About the Stone

Peruvian Blue Opal is a common opal — translucent blue to blue-green, without play-of-colour — from the Andes, chiefly around the San Patricio mine, its colour generally attributed to trace copper. Care

Opal holds water and can craze with heat, strong light or dryness: no hot water, no long direct sun, no ultrasonic cleaners. Softer than quartz, so store it padded and apart. A soft damp cloth. Cleanse it in moonlight.
