About the Stone

Sacred Crystals' Peacock Ore is bornite, a copper iron sulfide. Fresh bornite is a dull bronze; the blues, purples and greens are a surface tarnish that develops as it oxidises — which is why it is also called peacock copper. Chalcopyrite is a different mineral sometimes sold under the same trade name, and a separate stone in our teaching.

Care

Soft, and it tarnishes further with handling. Keep it dry — no soaking, and never use it in elixirs or gem water. Wash your hands after handling rough pieces. Cleanse it dry: sage, sound or moonlight.
