How to Use It

Set the cone on its metal stand or in a dish of sand on a heat-safe surface. Light the tip, let it flame for five to ten seconds, then blow it out so the point glows; it smokes for fifteen to twenty minutes and leaves a small ash. Open a window a crack. Never leave it burning unattended.

In Tradition

Frankincense and myrrh were burned together in the temples of Egypt and Jerusalem and travelled together as the gifts of the Magi. Frankincense lifts; myrrh grounds. Burn them together for the full arc of a prayer.
