Citrine — Citrine is a beautiful, golden tan to bright golden yellow stone. It corresponds to the Solar Plexus Chakra, the energy center that controls our "gut feelings". Chakra: Solar Plexus.

Amethyst — Amethyst is the one stone to have if you only owned one stone. It is both a stone of spiritual connection (Crown Chakra) and earth connection (Root Chakra). Chakras: All, with Crown and Root named specifically.

Emerald — Emerald is a stone of love and a symbol of hope, often used for divination and prophecy — seeing the future. It brings the wearer reason and wisdom. Chakra: Heart.

Garnet — There are three basic varieties of Garnet; this variety is Almandine, which is also the variety known worldwide as simply "Garnet". Garnet is a stone of earthy passion. Chakras: Root and Heart.

Aquamarine — Its power is healing traumas left over from childhood that no longer serve us. It asks the question: what if we could live free from that? Chakra: Throat.

Carnelian — Carnelian connects us to our Sacral Chakra and all that that encompasses. It is a stone of pure passion in all senses of the word. Chakra: Sacral.

About the Stones

Citrine. Citrine and Amethyst are the same stone: iron inclusions in Amethyst turn it yellow or orange when heated.

Amethyst. Amethyst is quartz with iron inclusions that give it its color; the most coveted deep purple comes from Uruguay, though some Brazilian amethyst rivals it.

Emerald. Emerald is the green gem variety of beryl, coloured by chromium or vanadium, and the same mineral as Aquamarine and Morganite — each its own stone.

Garnet. Garnet is a family of minerals rather than one; Almandine, the deep red iron-aluminum garnet, is the one the world simply calls Garnet.

Aquamarine. Aquamarine is the blue to blue-green variety of beryl — the same mineral family as Emerald and Morganite, each its own stone.

Wearing & Care

Rings take more knocks than any other piece of jewelry: put it on last, after lotion and perfume, and take it off for hand-washing, housework, gardening, the gym, swimming and sleep. Sterling silver tarnishes slowly in air; a silver polishing cloth keeps it bright. Amethyst: Amethyst's purple fades with long hours in direct sun — it is the stone Vero uses to teach the rule. Emerald: Hard but brittle: the garden inside it means a sharp knock can chip it, and most emeralds are oil- or resin-filled, so no ultrasonic, no steam, no hot water, no solvents. US sizes.
