Fluorite is a beautiful stone that grows in perfect octahedrons — because Mother Nature is cool like that! It is often called Rainbow Fluorite, as it comes in many colors and will often present in stripes of color, like a rainbow. Its most common colors are green and purple, though it also comes in pink, blue and yellow. It is usually translucent, often appears to be lit from the inside, and is arguably one of the most beautiful gemstones in existence.

It is the stone of mental clarity and focus. It assists in clearing the mental chatter that runs like a song on repeat through our mind, so that we might better focus on the task at hand. It is a wonderful aid to students and is quite useful in study and test-taking. It is a calming stone.

Those of us who work with it continually over time have an extended benefit from its sharp energy: increased psychic connection. This only makes sense — when we become extremely clear in our thoughts and our focus sharpens, our consciousness expands, opening psychic pathways. Fluorite teaches that clear thinking creates clear energy, and with that, the mind becomes light.

About the Stone

Fluorite is calcium fluoride, the defining mineral of hardness 4, and it gave fluorescence its name — many pieces glow blue-violet under UV. The banding is growth zoning, layer after layer with different trace elements.

Wearing & Care

Rings take more knocks than any other piece of jewelry: put it on last, after lotion and perfume, and take it off for hand-washing, housework, gardening, the gym, swimming and sleep. Fluorite is soft and cleaves easily, so keep it apart from harder stones and do not drop it. Keep it out of prolonged direct sun — the purples fade. Do not soak it, and never use it in water you drink. Cleanse it with sage or moonlight. US sizes. Not sure of yours?
