About the Stone

African Opal is the trade name for this sky-blue stone with soft brown, marbled veining. It is cut in thin slices and spears for jewelry; it is not a precious opal and shows no play of colour.

Wearing & Care

Put earrings on last, after perfume, lotion and hairspray, and take them off for showers, swimming and sleep. Keep the pair together in a pouch so the stones don't rub against other jewelry. Gold fill is a thick layer of gold bonded over the metal beneath — far more than plating — and it wipes clean with a soft cloth; no dips or polishes.
