In fact, it is a mineral that is in Lapis Lazuli but can also stand alone — alone, or with calcite: when its deep blue is interrupted by patches of white, that is calcite. What you will not find in its makeup is pyrite, also known as fool's gold; the inclusion of pyrite would make it Lapis Lazuli.
